Meet Laduben. While exploring the remote villages in the greater Kutch desert, we stumbled upon her beautiful village of eight rotund huts and the happiest children I have ever seen. Laduben is a proud artisan and has won a national award in embroidery from the Indian government. She has traveled to France to exhibit her endlessly colorful embroidery. Both Laduben and her village taught me instantly that friendship, simplicity, and pride make a village - not poverty, hunger, and illiteracy.
